Best Case makes his racetrack return on Saturday following a break of four weeks since his Cameron Stakes effort. He will take his place as top weight in the Bench Mark 93 Handicap over 1600 metres and presents as a strong chance to come out on top. This is an obvious step down from the original plan for his preparation, being the Epsom Handicap - which was abandoned once the weight scale of the race resembled anything but a Handicap.

Nevertheless, Best Case has thrived with extra time off and comes into this race off the back of some very pleasing work on the training track. Provided he runs well a trip to Melbourne beckons, with Melbourne Cup day's James Boag's Symphony Stakes handicap over 1800 metres his most likely target.

Speaking of Melbourne Targets, the stable has recently floated down four of its representatives for their chance to compete in some of the best races of the season. Hierarchal, our impressive fourth place-getter in the Spring Champion Stakes last Saturday, will be aimed towards either the Geelong Classic on Wednesday or the three year old Vase over 2040 metres next Saturday. Based on the rate of improvement he has shown from one start to the next, the stable is very confident Hierarchal will be reaching his peak for this preparation on Victoria Derby day.

Ritzy is another of our three year olds looking to make her mark on The Classic Victorian Oaks. She earnt her trip south following an impressive win last Sunday at Hawkesbury over 2000 metres. She will have another outing next Thursday at Ballarat to further improve her fitness for what will be a tough Oaks field. Incidentally, she will be following in the same footsteps as the 2013 VRC Oaks runner-up 'Zanbagh'. She has settled in well and appears to be relishing her time in a new environment.

Vergara, our smart Mona Lisa Stakes winning mare by Snippetson has also journied down to Melbourne to line up in the Myer Classic over 1600 metres. Her last start sixth in the Angst Stakes was full of merit, given how fast the field went for the first half of the race and that she raced on top of that speed. We have always felt that Vergara was best having at least three weeks between runs and she gets that, coupled with a change in scenery. She continues to do well and we are confident she has what it takes to be competitive against the mares at Group 1 level.

Lastly, We are due for representation in the early season two year old races with Pittsburgh, a good-looking, strong son of Fastnet Rock out of the mare Sevruga. He is out of a half sister to a Maribynong plate winner in Langoustine and hails from the family of Royal Acadamy, a very exciting stud prospect indeed should he go on and win at the highest level.
