Cummings Racing has showcased a couple of real up and comers as MADAME MARKIEVICZ and MIZZY contested races over the weekend.

MADAME MARKIEVICZ has returned from her spell in fantastic order and is thriving from the race experience this time in. She was unlucky at Newcastle first up where she was grabbed late but this hit out set he up perfectly for the Maiden 1600m at Wyong. The O’Reilly mare is bred to stay, and she pounced on the lead hoping for an all the way win under the urgings of Christian Reith. The pressure was relentless as they got serious at the 600m, but the class prevailed as she was strong to the post.

The stakes racing has returned to Sydney in the lead up to the Spring Carnival and we had the lightly raced 3YO daughter of Zoustar contesting the Group 3 Ming Dynasty over the 1400m. MIZZY has created the buzz around Leilani Lodge after just missing on debut at Canterbury as a 2YO and this promise has continued as she has exhibited quality to match her will to win.

Andrew Adkins couldn’t fault her performance as she let down with a powerful run in soft conditions. She just missed out on breaking her maiden at stakes level but with nominations in the Group 1 Golden Rose and Thousand Guineas she is set for a big campaign.
