It’s an exciting time for Cummings racing as some of the real up and comers have commenced their racing careers. Edward and Anthony have glowing reports of the debutants and there is plenty of hype at Leilani Lodge as we get stuck into the Winter racing season.

The Denman colt WATCHING has exhibited plenty of raw talent as he stormed home at Newcastle on debut finishing an eye catching 2nd. He looks set for a successful campaign and will next be seen at Randwick on Saturday 21st July in the Rosebud Prelude.

Another who really stepped up first time out was the 2YO Zoustar filly MIZZY. She has speed to burn and found herself dictating terms at Canterbury Park before being nabbed on the post. She continued onto Randwick but was unlucky when caught behind traffic as she watched the stable mate BLAST strut his stuff. Blast couldn’t have conducted himself any better as he let down powerfully to finish a closing 2nd over the 1200m.

When you look for consistency you couldn’t go past the Smart Missile gelding SMART AIN’T HE. He is a testament to patience and has been right there at both Canterbury Park and Warwick Farm finishing in the placings. His next assignment looks to suit as he travels to Wyong hoping the experience in town allows for a that breakthrough win.

The famous colours of Gerry Harvey have been on display for the Cummings team as COMMUNICATING and ACT OF BRAVERY got their chances on the track. Communicating really got into her work late at Hawkesbury to finish 3rd and Act Of Bravery mimicked this run at Goulburn where he was a closing 2nd.

The results are really starting to come for the stable and we can’t wait to see where these horses sit after their first racing preparations. The yearlings will soon be eligible to race as 2YO’s and with the sons and daughters of FASTNET ROCK, WANDJINA, UNCLE MO, PIERRO, DUNDEEL and DAWN APPROACH looking for trials the future looks bright.
